air starters have the advantage of (initially) cranking the engine over faster, but you’re kind of hosed if the engine doesn’t fire before the air supply is exhausted.

Spring starters are neat too:

Many air start trucks can be started with air from the tires. Thus you have 18 chances to get it fired up, and when you do, the air compressor can pump them back up.
